Daily Routine

We provide children with a consistent daily routine which includes child and adult initiated activities. We offer opportunities for children to choose, plan, carry out and reflect on their activities which allows them to engage in the active participatory learning process.  An example would be the following:

In the morning our library area is open to children and parents/carers to start their day with a book.  The children are welcomed by key staff in their group rooms and will self register using their name and picture cards.

Children will settle with a book whilst the register is taken. They will then have a short carpet session for example, pre-phonics, maths or curriculum.  We try to make these sessions as active and interactive as possible with children being given lots of opportunities for talk and learning key skills.

The children will then have access to continuous provision and self-serve snack.  Staff will engage children in high-quality interactions and support children to learn through play.  We will then have another short carpet session followed by continuous provision.  At the end of the session the children will have story and singing before either staying for lunch or going home.

At lunch time the children are encouraged to eat socially, try new food and develop table manners.
